I wanted to embrace every moment of my recent safari trip to Kenya, so I kept checking, posting and communicating on social media to the bare minimum whilst I was away. And, it’s taken a little while for me to get back to reality (and not look for animals everywhere I go).
There were times I could have probably caught a stunning photograph of an animal but sometimes I just had to put the camera down to really absorb the surrounding beauty. I think sometimes we are consumed by technology and I could have spent my whole time seeing these amazing creatures through a distorting lens.
If I had to pick my favourite moment from the trip, it was seeing my first herd of elephants up close. They are the most mesmerising animals I have ever seen. I could have stayed all day and watched how gracefully they move around.
I had this great idea for a blog post, taking loads of pictures of my betes supplies with every animal I saw but to be honest my diabetes took a back seat. Of course, I tried to maintain great BG but I wasn’t about to get my test machine out to take photos and miss out on the full experience! Keep an eye out for my next blog post “Taking Dexy on Safari”. In the meantime, here are a few of my favourite shots, enjoy!
